What actually happens to HUD?

Hus is bitten in half, or at least in two. You can see his two feet sticking out bewteen the monster's teeth as the rest of him is falling. It's not clear exaclty where he was halved, may have been low enough, say by the knees, not to be too disturbing for Rob to approach. In any case, the fall would knock him out if the shock of being eaten wasn't enough, and he would have definitely bled to death anyway. Plus that crunching sound is bone shattering...not a sound you want to hear.
