I'd like to see how the monster got to New York. Like where he came out of the ocean, the first thing he did on land and what people's reactions were. So i guess more of the very very beginning of the monster making it to NY.

I want to know what caused that huge explosion in the middle of the city.
I also want to know how and why the huge pieces of buildings, including the SOL head, were tossed into the air. This also goes for the pieces of the oil rig in the news videos. The monster only has two grasping arms but a lot of debris were thrown almost simultaniously.

The poster for the film clearly shows the SOL minus its head, and with THREE huge claw marks up its back... I dont think the creature actually has claws on its hands / legs / whatever, BUT it does have a strange jaw configuration, so my guess is that the creature BIT the head off the SOL, and had it in its mouth up til it either spat it, or merely whipped its head and effectively threw it down that street at HUD, ROB etc...
As for HOW the creature can throw all that stuff up in one go.... I'm as stumped as you!

your looking WAY to deeply into the movie poster than you should there. the poster was only made to show the head being ripped off. that it has 3 claws and is big enough and powerful enough to cause damage to a city.

the poster side of the movie is nothign mor than a poster.granted the photo of the statue of liberty was a picture of the prop they used for the film but it was just ment to show its heads been ripped off. i surguest not to look too deeply into that.

the video of the station sinking then the debrie shower was just to look cool and to let people know its not a natural deaster

You might be right about that. Although it might dissapoint us, it is unlikely that Abrams thought out and planned the movie and the marketing campaign as thoroughly as we might like. I can imagin someone asking Abrams or Reves about the pieces of the oil rig going going up at once and them saying "Ump, we just thought it would be a cool thing to do."

Besides where it originated from, I want to know how the hell it throws so much stuff up. In the oil rig video, stuff is flying around everywhere. And same with the beginning of the film, which made no sense to me.

again i think the the oil rig is just to look cool and to show its a monster and not a random natural occurance.

im with you nendo, i dont want too much of a backstory, i think the mystery surrounding the whole thing is what made the movie good. If they start trying to get creative and come up with an elaborate back story people will be disappointed with anything they come up with.
