Censorship in Movies
This is getting ridiculous, why is there a ratings board for movies if people are still going to try to boycott certain films and claim they are racist, wrong, insensitive, or whatever their complaints are? I get the idea of trying to prevent kids from seeing stuff that is a little too graphic or vulgar, but to boycott a movie because you feel it's insensitive to disabled people is ridiculous. If you don't like what the movie is portraying, don't go see the fucking movie! By boycotting a movie and getting the media's attention you are only driving more and more people to see that movie, if you weren't so retarded you might realize that!
If you haven't figured it out yet, this is in response to people getting angry over a faux film that appears within 'Tropic Thunder' called 'Simple Jack' where Ben Stiller plays a mentally challenged (aka retarded) person, I believe, to win try to win an oscar or something. It's basically making fun of all those actors that think that by taking a role as a retarded person they are more likely to win an oscar than if they played someone like The Joker..... People need to lighten the fuck up. First of all, the film isn't making fun of retarded people, as I said above, it's making fun of those actors/actresses that are hell bent on winning an oscar and feel that is a sure way to do so. So open you're eyes and look at the context of the film. Everyone also complained about The Ringer with Johnny Knoxville, where he impressonated a retarded person in order to rig the special olympics, but when the movie came out nobody said shit (mainly cause it sucked ass), but it didn't make fun of the retarded people like everyone thought. So why don't you wait until you see a movie before you judge it. Nobody is forcing you to see this movie or recommend it to your friends, so the studio isn't going to get your money so why the fuck do you care? Like I said, by protesting this movie and giving it media attention, you're only creating more hype for it. If you don't like what it's portraying, don't generate more attention, it's only hurting your cause. Protesting movies doesn't work like protests for other shit. People like seeing what all the hype is about and if you hype it up as being offensive and demeaning, while critics are saying it's hysterical as a movie, then you'll never win this fight. Look at Dogma and Kevin Smith, the catholic church was very against the themes of the movie and there were even protests outside of theaters (which Kevin Smith joined in on and was actually interviewed by the local news station as he was picketing his own movie!). The protest only gave Dogma more free publicity that it could have asked for. Sorry for this long rant about this, I know I probably don't make a whole lot of sense and repeat the same things over and over again, but I'm sick of shit like this getting more media coverage than what's really happening in the world. Instead of focusing on a movie about a fake war, lets focus on the real war we're fighting. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to get a break from all the bad news about what's happening in the world, but lets not forget that it is still happening.
