Blu-Ray Discs Pushed to 16 Layers / 400gb
If you thought 50gigs per disc was pretty good than just wait until you hear this one. Pioneer has just pushed the limits of blu-ray discs even further by squeezing 16 layers onto a single disc, producing 400 gigs of storage space! Whether or not these discs actually make it to the market is a different story though, but at least we know that blu-ray has the capabilities to change in the future. But this could also lead to current players not being able to read the new discs. Similar thing happened with DVD when they first released dual layered discs, some of the old players could not read the 2nd layer and even some after that still had trouble and would not transition between layers seemlessly. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
